This window overlooks the library's three story interior atrium from the second floor stacks and reading area. An achromatic glass palette of several textures of clear transparent glasses, white opal and opak and clear lenses acknowledge an interior composed of white stained concrete, neutral finishes and natural oak detailing.

The subtlety and filminess of such a palette allows stained glass to effortlessly melt into the architectural context as an elegantly understated detail. The repetition of the square in the stained glass design reiterates an architectural concept based on the square from the siting and layout of the building to the detaining of oak air returns and handrails. The handrails (just beyond the window along walkways leading from the double doors that flank it) are echoed in the stained glass by vertical leadwork. A protective glazing of tempered glass installed between the stained glass and the reading area also reduces maintenance to a minimum.
