Places of Worship

In the medium of stained glass there are times when the creative episode is cut short before a 2-dimensional drawing or rendering can be transformed into its intended multidimensional stained glass reality. These are not happy times. Even in situations where you are reimbursed for your efforts, the failure of a design to become a window is still disappointing. It is usually best to try to let these visions go and move on.

But, then again, these renderings themselves are valid artistic statements. Due to my poor salesmanship, or because someone else's design won out, or maybe simply as a result of what a committee member had for dinner the night before, these renderings, brimming with potential, never happened. They have been gathering beneath a table in the corner of my studio where I sometimes pull them out and flip through them. If only for a moment, the thoughts, hopes and ideas that accompanied their making flicker past in my mind's eye. It can be frustrating to wonder what direction sunbsequent work might have taken if some of these creations had made it into reality.

Here for your perusal are some of those renderings. Although they never saw the light of day, if you look closely, maybe you will see some of the sparkle and creativity that I had in mind.
