Dentist Office Skylights Dr. George R. Clark, DDS Dallas, Texas 3.0 x 3.0 ft. each (0.9 x 0.9m) Since dental patients spend a fair amount of time looking up from the dentist's chair, I was commissioned to create these two skylights. Our primary concern during the design of the first skylight was that dense color in the skylight could interfere with the dentist's work below. After a few years, when I was asked to design another skylight, the dentist had spent enough time under the first to feel comfortable with the more saturated colors in the second effort.
These skylights are installed on a 1/4" thick Lexan subglazing and are reinforced with steel flatbar that are hidden in silhouette behind the leading. The fine lines in the second skylight are brass welding rods that were soldered to the stained glass panel's surface.
