Wall Installation

Worthen National Bank
Pine Bluff, Arkansas
6.0' x 4.0' (1.83 x 1.22m)
A matrix of individual blocks with silvered transparent glass laminations is installed
on the wall of this relatively tight entrance into the main bank lobby.
The blocks are not flat, but slope slightly (note the shadows on the wall
below the installation). Each of the five colors in the design slope in
their own unique direction (i.e.: the red glass slopes from block to block
in the same plane from the upper right down to the lower left). This careful
orchestration of angles produces an interesting shift of reflected images
as bank customers move past. The illusion of "window" and spatial flow
through the wall is so strong that first-time visitors to the bank frequently
peer around the wall in an attempt to see the back of the "window". |
